She found it in the quarterly numbers. Something didn’t add up. Not a rounding error. A pattern.
She brought it to her manager. Manager said “let me look into it.” Looking into it meant calling legal. Legal called HR. HR scheduled a meeting. The meeting wasn’t about the numbers. The meeting was about her.
Three weeks later, her role was “restructured.” Not related to the report, of course. Timing was coincidental. The restructuring had been planned for months. Definitely planned for months. The documentation would show that. Because someone backdated it.
She signed the severance. Took the money. Couldn’t talk about it.
