A liaison. A person who makes two departments talk to each other when neither one wants to.
That’s what he’d been doing for a decade. Connecting ops and product. Translating what the field needed into what the engineers built. Connecting what the company sold with what the company actually delivered.
They eliminated the connection. Then they wondered why things stopped connecting.
A year later, someone else was doing the same work. Different title. Lower pay. No history of raising uncomfortable questions in leadership meetings.
They didn’t eliminate the function. They eliminated the person who did it with opinions.
